Trip Overview


Ama Dablam Base Camp trek with Island Peak climbing is an amazing adventure for a lifetime experience.  Ama Dablam and Island Peak both are located in the heart of the Khumbu region. We can say these two peaks are the gem of the region.
 
Mt. Ama Dablam has a height of 6812m above sea level and also the height of Base Camp is 4800meter. It is the majestic Mountain lies almost due south of Mt. Everest and Mt. Lhotse.  It is one of the most rewarding trek with the less crowded trekking trail. The trail passes through the steep rocky slopes and several small traditional villages inhabited by my ethnic group -mostly Sherpas.
 
Island peak is also known as the Imjatse Himal. 6189M high Island peak is the treasure of Khumbu region. It is one of the most beautiful peak in the great Himalayas range. We will be staying at the Base camp of Island peak to be acclimatized.  The Base Camp is at the height of 5087 meters.
 
This adventure trip Ama Dablam Base Camp trek and Island peak climbing starts at Kathmandu. You will spend a couple of days in Kathmandu and make the necessary preparation for climbing. For those who would like we will also give you a tour of Kathmandu city where you can enjoy and buy your trek equipment if you have missed out on any. Keep in mind that we provide a free duffle bag when you arrive, also we provide down jackets and sleeping bags for hire if needed, we would appreciate it if you would give us the details when you book our trip.
 
 On the third morning, we will take a scenic flight toward Lukla. The actual total days of walking and climbing is 16, we will be spending our night in a teahouse through different places as stated in the itinerary. We give extra care to our clients with our excellent and certified English-speaking guide who will help you with all the things you need and with their knowledge of the route you will find the trek more enjoyable. Itinerary
Day 1

Arrive Kathmandu

Places Visited: Kathmandu

Activities:

Arrive Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel. Drive approx. 25 minutes depending on the traffic. After the
check-in formalities at the hotel lobby, there will be a short briefing about the following days program by
your Tour Leader. After the briefing, you have a choice to go for group dinner at a Nepalese restaurant
and experience the culture through our food and dance.

Day 2

Free day at Kathmandu

Places Visited: Kathmandu

Activities:

Today, perhaps visit Swayambhunath also called the Monkey Temple or the Durbar Square in the heart of
the old city where the old Royal Palace & temples with intricate woodcarvings are located. If you are
lucky you can see the "Kumari" at the Home of the Kumari, the young girl who is revered as a living
goddess. In the evening time, we will prepare for the trek.

Day 3

Fly Lukla, trek Phakding

Activities:

Early morning we will take a flight to Lukla. Lukla is the gateway to the Everest region. We will start the
first day of the tour trek from Lukla to Phakding. We will head towards the North to the valley of
Dudhkosi. We then, drop down from the small plateau to Phakding.

Day 4

Trek to Namche

Activities:

Early Morning we continue our trek by following the Dudhkoshi. We will cross the long suspension
bridge and then walk through the bank of Dudh Koshi a hundred meters above its fizzy water bodies.
Passing through a couple of beautiful waterfalls we will say goodbye to Dudh Kosi. We then, again cross
the suspension bridge high above the roaring river and finally reach Namche Bazar.

Day 5

Acclimatization Day at Namche

Activities:

Today is the rest day at Namche. It is the most important day to be Acclimatized. Namche Bazar is a real
city with the main street as the lively centerpiece. We will explore Namche today. You can stroll through
the market browsing various goods or enjoy your time drinking hot coffee at some café. There are also
many landmarks in and around Namche such as Monastries and Museums which you can visit. If you
have missed out on any equipment for the trip you can walk to the market to get one. Namche has very
good network connectivity which you can use to contact your peers or your family. Acclimatization
throughout the day we spend our night here.

Day 6

Trek to Thyangboche

Activities:

Following the early morning breakfast, we will climb out of Namche. The trial offers an Overwhelming
view of Ama Dablam and Mt. Everest. The path continues up through the Forest and low land until we
pass a rabbit gate. Now we can see the Thyangboche Monastery which is beautiful and seems impressive.
We will be staying at Tyangboche for Night.

Day 7

Trek to Pangboche

Today we make our way to Pangboche. Walking through the dense forest to Milingo we have to cross the
river at Imja Khola from where we are offered the stunning view of Ama Dablam. Now we will have an
easy ascent to Pangboche. We will arrive at Pangboche before lunch. In the afternoon we will explore
Pangboche and enjoy the sunset view.

Day 8

Pangboche, Ama Dablam base camp

We stay another night at Pangboche. And be prepared for one of the highlights of the trip, Ama Dablam
Base Camp. We get the opportunity to experience the atmosphere and expedition life up close. We will
return to Pangboche in the late afternoon having the exciting and hardest climb.

Day 9

Trek to Chukung Ri

We head for Chukung today. It is the perfect start for the ongoing climb of Island Peak. After reaching
Chukung if we are healthy and can gather some courage, it is possible to climb Chukung Ri in the
afternoon time.

Day 10

Island Peak Base Camp

Today having the morning breakfast we will follow the Imja Khola for the next 3-4 Hours to the Island
Peak Base Camp. We can see the large glaciers as well as Lhotse’s impressive South Wall. We trek Up to
the Island Peak Base Camp where we will stay in a Tent for the first time. At the Base Camp, we get
some training and skills such as using crampons, ice ax, abseiling, and other types of equipment and
techniques that will be essential later on during peak Climbing.

Day 11

Island Peak Climb

Today is the most exciting day; we will be climbing the peak. We start early and move up the moraine
and on to the High Camp at 5700m above the sea level. The trail rises steeply and the landscape opens up.
At Midnight the trial begins towards the top. We first go through a rocky area with an easier climb and
reach the top. We will pass the glacier in rebellion and continue to walk the high ice wall, which forms
the way up to the wind-blown and easily exposed. From here we will follow the trail up to the top of
Island peak. The view from the top is picturesque.
We will be back at Base Camp in the late afternoon.

Day 12

Trek Back to Thyangboche:

Today we will start dropping down towards the lowlands. Tracing our way back and walking through
Chukung, Dingboche, and Pangboche after which we then further descend down to Thyangboche
following the same trail we walked before.

Day 15

Trek to Phakding

Activities:

Today again we have a long and challenging walk towards Phakding. We will stop at Namche for Lunch
and further continue our walk to the confluence of the river Bhote Koshi and Dudh Koshi.

Day 16

Trek to Lukla

Activities:

Today is the last day of our trek. We’ll trek to Lukla following the same trail we walked before. Here we
enjoy the evening and celebrate the success of our trek.

Day 17

Fly to Kathmandu

Activities:

Early morning, we will take a flight to Kathmandu. In Kathmandu we will stay at the same hotel, we
stayed at before. We will freshen up and have rest. You are free for rest of the day.

Day 18

Free Day at Kathmandu

Today is the last day before your departure, we can organize a city tour if you want or you can explore the
city at your own pace visiting landmarks or buying souvenirs today is the day for it. We will also need to
prepare for our final Departure.

Day 19

Final departure

Today after breakfast, we will transfer you to the airport.
